Yet another August month is here. (and its already the middle of it, this entry is so late).
I just discovered that the month of August was used to be called Sextilis, which was the sixth month from March, the month in which the early Romans, as well as Jews, began the year. The name was only later changed to August in special honor of Augustus Caesar, the first emperor of Rome, on account of his victories, and his entering on his first consulate in that month. Such was the history behind this month that the term 'august' came to connote:
"a quality inspiring mingled admiration and reverence; having an aspect of solemn dignity or grandeur; sublime; majestic; having exalted birth, character, state, or authority."
In short, the synonyms are: Grand; magnificent; majestic; solemn; awful; noble; stately; dignified; imposing.
Yes, August month is truly the month of the royal beast, the roaring kittens!
Here are two examples of them:
One enjoyed a chocolate cake:
and the other slept all day:
... it was surely a fun day, for both of them.
